Current Reign and Preferences
Wassail to their Majesties, Baldric II and Breyla II!
For this reign, Their Majesties request the following of their scribes:
Upcoming Reign and Preferences
To the talented scribes of Ealdormere, your Prince and Princess send greetings. It has become common practice in Ealdormere for each incoming reign to give specific instructions for the scribes. Usually there are instructions for space needed for the type of seal, for specific titles the royalty wish to use, or other royal wishes. It is Her Highness’ opinion that the more specific royal instructions get, the narrower the scope of volunteers to donate their work might be. We will always keep in mind that these scrolls are a gift, and we appreciate your willingness to do this work for our kingdom. We would like you to know that we hope you will work on scrolls for our upcoming reign in any style or period which you are inspired to make. We encourage diversity of cultures, time periods, and the use of non-traditional materials to make award scrolls, if you have been working on some different art forms. We are sure your work will make the recipients very glad. We hope you will enjoy the creative process above all. We plan on giving as much time as possible with assignments with that in mind. We hope that occasionally we might be given scrolls at earlier events, so that we can get some of them signed and sealed ahead of time. We hope that we can have them at the earliest point that you can manage. We have no specific wishes about whether you add Rex and Regina. You can do whatever you feel suits the piece you are working on, so long as we have a little space to sign. Please don’t use “High King” or “High Queen” as those were TRM Baldric and Breyla’s preferred titles. We are pleased with most other titles, and you can ask us, if you want to do something unusual, if you are not sure. There is no particular reign time period or culture for us. We will use wax seals (they are actually red hot glue). A two-inch circular space would help, or you can mark in Pencil the word “SEAL” if you want us to put it over the art in a particular spot. We don’t want to use hanging seals, unless there is a reason that a scribe wants a hanging seal on a particular scroll. We find they make it more difficult for the recipient to frame. It is always a good idea to leave a little space if you are making scroll blanks (doing the art before knowing what assignment the scroll is for) we would recommend a 2” circle in general, if you don’t know which reign it will be used for. We would be happy for the new Signet to be given blanks for future use. We cannot thank you enough for your skills given in service to Ealdormere, TRH Evander and Marioun |
